Save the Kebab is a community advocacy group.
We’re artists, curators, cultural heritage experts, architects, landscape architects, designers, and everyday citizens who care deeply about the city’s identity.
Public art makes a rich contribution to the culture, identity and communal memory of the city.
Saving the Ore Obelisk puts a wider spotlight on public art in our city and the importance of defending it.
We believe our valuable public art should be respected the same way as our heritage buildings. It must be cared for and maintained.
Equally important, new public art commissions and acquisitions should be of the highest quality. This requires expert arts and cultural consultation and input.
We champion Perth’s public art and artists and believe the community deserves public art that delivers value, now and into the future.
#SaveTheKebab is asking the City of Perth for:
- An immediate pause on the Boonji Spaceman installation
- Restoration of Paul Ritter’s Ore Obelisk in Stirling Gardens
- Commissioning Lorenna Grant to remake the Arch in Northbridge
- Relocating the Boonji Spaceman to a more appropriate site — not Perth’s oldest garden
